    Relished those moments trying to hurry up and chat when her parents said it was time to hang up….

    She has learned how to decipher parent-ese. The other phrase that meant do it now was “don’t make me come in there!”

    Our phone was a business line.
    All conversations were kept short, lest we miss a call
    If my older brother were on a personal call, after five minutes, we would hit the button to hang him up.
    It was counterproductive, though.
    He saw her face to face and wound up marrying her.
    Better to have just talked.

    ’Twas not a marriage made in Heaven and brought much suffering.
