    Music recording engineers just gave up and chalked it up to songs being continued on the other side of the tape during the final part of the process or made the tape longer, to preserve any continuity… e.g., “Freebird” on cassette… the fade into the final solo section from side one picks up in the fade in on side two….

    Unless it was an 8-track, in which case there was a big kerchunk in the middle of the song and it continued on the next track.

    In the old days that is who it was written. As one continuous word made up of smaller words. Later they found it was easier to understand if they were separated.
