A Sunday shocker! Rufus is, as it were, out on a limb in his Struggle against the Big Bad and alone for the moment. And yet I feel confident that not all his friends are lost forever. Isn’t it about time for the cavalry to show up?

This is why you pay for the guided tour. Exploring a new city by yourself can be exciting, but sometimes you find yourself in the bad part of town just by accident, and then there’s never a taxi when you need one.

Oh, if only he could find the Ring of Power, and keep away from that gangle creature… oops, wrong epic…

At least you didn’t change it to “Keep Calm and Destroy TSOJ”…

I’m glad this wasn’t Friday’s strip, I don’t think I could handle a whole weekend waiting to see what happens next. Poor Rufus!

Throughout the story, I’ve often thought about a song regarding a ♪ little boy with a troubled mind ♫, particularly when Rufus and Biff had quarreled before temporarily parting ways. And it has never been more appropriate than now.

Oh, happy Sunday! I’m amazed, over and over again, at how Kory can put his characters into the darkest of situations – wretched and discouraged, with no small ray of hope. And we care about them SO much, we can’t stand not to be able to turn the page. What a grand ride this is!

Reminds me of how everyone wanted the cavalry to show up when Goatsucker battled the WBG. Though it didn’t work out that way, later I thought that perhaps something better would eventually come about. Though that hasn’t happened yet(?), like Mulder on The X-Files, I want to believe. And I hope and pray, too, that Rufus is not all that is left of our gang.

I find myself recalling Sam’s search for Frodo when he reached what looked like the top floor with no luck. Hang in there, Rufus – I don’t think it’s over yet.

“And we care about them SO much, we can’t stand not to be able to turn the page.”

That probably accounts for at least some of the impatience occasionally encountered in the comments section. Though I can sympathize to a degree, I get mighty irritated at certain people whose attitude is akin to restless children on long trips who repeating whine, “Are we there yet?!”
