Welcome to a land of strange stories and weirdly-spun yarn, where oddities and unmentionables lurk behind every tale. Here you will witness the plight of the mysterious Heckbender, suffer the misadventures of Derring-Do Dan, learn the unsettling secret of the Slynderfell Ice Cream Cavalcade, and behold the unraveling of The Bogey. A word of caution: stay on the sidewalks, avoid shortcuts through Halfrock Swamp, and do NOT under any circumstances make business transactions with C. Percival Trullus.

Unless Halfrock Swamp is on or near a seacoast … no. it doesn’t fit.

Little Goatsucker in the background, dwarfed by the swamp.

Brackish: 1) Slightly salty; 2) distasteful, unpleasant.
Inland water can become salty for a variety of reasons, several of them man-made. Since the swamp is a dumping site for expired Slynderfell ice cream, who knows what’s in that water…

@Fairportfan2
Brackish water can be found in lakes, marshes, and swamps that are not connected to the sea. The Caspian Sea is the worlds largest lake. It is also brackish. (The key is that water loss occurs via evaporation which allows the salt coming in to concentrate in the marsh.)

The artwork in this strip just gets better and better. I think we are seeing Kory’s artistic talent mature.

I don’t know if Whangdoodlers are real, but Koko Taylor can pitch a wang-dang-doodle all night long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w6IY0v-0pA
