   At first, I wondered if Oggalulu was the one outside of the factory that knew about the secret, and that Flimm is preparing to snuff her. Except that Slynderfell called the one “him”. Flimm, being an Allseer, is going to have the same problem understanding human emotions like ‘love’ as Jamie Jones and Baba Yaga did. Then again, Slynderfell isn’t exactly human, so may not have what we’d call ‘human’ emotions. Maybe Flimm is just lonely and hoping that someone will hook him up with a cute hottie…

   TSOJ, I think Flimm is in love, deeply and passionately in love. With itself. (I’m not sure that human concepts of gender matter to a being like Flimm.)

   Conceivably, it’s related to the questions the remainders kept asking Margo about why she actively joined Biff and Rufus to help them out, and the question Baba Yaga asked Biff and Rufus about how they kept outwitting Flimm. There’s something about the heroes that the Allseers fail to grasp, and that Flimm himself wants to understand.

    Waycyber, have you read C. S. Lewis’s “The Screwtape Letters”? There is a strong similarity between Flimm’s complementing Slynderfell on having outgrown his delusion of love and Screwtape’s advice to his Nephew.

    Flimm seems to be speaking with the voices of his victims..
    As for love, maybe that is no longer a factor in the marriage, but so many stay together for the comfort their routine provides them.. even if it’s just knowing you have someone to loathe..

    You’re absolutely right—I just found out recently that Lewis wrote a brief addendum (sequel?) called “Screwtape proposes a toast.” Haven’t read it yet, though. The Screwtape Letters is my favorite fictional work by Lewis, even if the Dawn Treader has my favorite line: “There was a boy called Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it.”

    As you know from other communication, I am Ace (asexual), so I do not experience passion. I do experience love, but as deep affection and friendship. More that of a brother than a lover.
