Welcome to a land of strange stories and weirdly-spun yarn, where oddities and unmentionables lurk behind every tale. Here you will witness the plight of the mysterious Heckbender, suffer the misadventures of Derring-Do Dan, learn the unsettling secret of the Slynderfell Ice Cream Cavalcade, and behold the unraveling of The Bogey. A word of caution: stay on the sidewalks, avoid shortcuts through Halfrock Swamp, and do NOT under any circumstances make business transactions with C. Percival Trullus.

Whoa! if that huge mortar and pestle is the witch’s aloysium relic then Lucious is gonna have a hard time stuffing that in his pocket.

I see another layer may have been added. So the chief taker is in turn hunted by “them”. I’m not sure that the latter refers to Margo and Lucius as well as other aggrieved parties seeking rescue or revenge.

Is the Taker Hunter an Undertaker?

“Is that Aylosium in your pocket, or are you just pleased – nah! It’s Aylosium!”

“The Ones Who Hunt Takers”.
.
And their names are Rufus, Biff, Margo and Lucius.
.
Or else they’re Mushpit.

I just noticed. The Witch and Goatsucker have the same accent. If I read the font correctly.

Ha! That Mushpit idea is good! They should come in at some point, don’t they?
I doubt these could have been Rufus&co, because they were told about Them already in the start of their journey when they didn’t even know yet they are about to meet many takers not just find the lost children. Or the Takers were really fast and knew they were Them long before they themselves had any inkling…

“Them!” (1954) were giant radiation-mutated ants. “The ones who hunt Takers” are probably not ants, not even aunts. Mushpits are an intriguing idea, but so far we have no indication of what further part they might have in this story.
(Hurry, Rufus! I’m trying to stall around here, but someone might see through my ruse.)
