    So, was Goatsucker an illusion, a trap, a warning or a shapeshifting rat?

    Eerie. I hate a carpet of live rats. Where will Lucius and Margo end up?

    If I ever lose my mouth, all my teeth, north and south
    If I ever lose my mouth, I won’t have to talk…

    Cat Stevens (or Yusuf Islam, or even Steven Demetre Georgiou) was a major part of my record (yes, record—back then, advanced technology was a tape deck) collection…Great songs to evoke a sense of home…

    Of course, when Margo matures, it’s clear that she’ll be a fairly Hard-Headed Woman…which is a good thing.

    If the Piper called me, I would hear Dave Brubeck’s Take Fife.

    Does she hear a harmonica or a mouse organ?

    @the other ghost girl

    No, Rufus’s mother’s name is Rebecca; his older sister is Reinetta. Granted, they all start with the initial R, followed by an e.

    It was a cover version by Margo’s Dad and Uncle. Never reached the charts.

    The Piper is a Taker of note. He has scaled the heights, rising above the bar. the fife is his signature instrument, played with a distinctive quaver.

    Unfortunately, I would have heard “Dueling Banjos”.
