Biff: “Sorry, Rufus. That door’s been closed for us.”

Muppet actor Jerry Nelson died on August 23, 2011 (after this story arc had begun) “…of complications from the various cancers and respiratory diseases from which he suffered in his final years.” (He had suffered from emphysema for years.)
    .
I wonder if Kory had intended this fate for Jerry when he began the story (i am assuming that he obtained clearance from the Wattersons and Jerry Nelson to include them as characters, before he began the story.)

Okay, so now we’re all kicking leaves and having second thoughts…. At least Goatsucker isn’t so introspectively depressed; anyway, I don’t think she is.

I hope Biff and Rufus aren’t fall guys.

That rock looks like one of those from Easter Island, lying on its back.

The formation of the leaves suggests arms and legs

The art is incredible today (not that it isn’t always)…Poor Rufus is experiencing hero fatigue—I hope he doesn’t give up—it scares me just a little that we’re still focused on these two, suggesting that something bad might still happen to them…

I wonder what the good Doctor is going to be like. Bill described her as eccentric. Also, this would be a typical time for everyone’s favorite troll to show up. We lost track of Trullus back at the Happy Land of Toys and Pleasure.

Back when Rufus and Biff entered the Land of Toys and Pleasure, I’d done a small write-up on the parallels between this series of chapters and the events within the original Pinocchio. At the time, I had the impression that all of the Takers could be equated to the various villains in the original story. However, it looks like Kory might instead be riffing on a variety of children’s fables. Obviously we had Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio. If we get the Pied Piper next, the witch could be somehow tied to him, or she could be the Hansel and Gretel witch who’s just somehow shacking up with the Piper (probably due to rising property taxes.)

Ok guy’s, the election is over but I’m still in prognostication mode: Jerry is becoming sickly because he is A TAKER!! It is like th Sith thing from SW. Rafer was his minion, he had to fell him in order to protect his own identity…oh yes, OH yes! Crazy you say? A fool I am? So crazy it just might be true!

Actually he died in late August 2012, only a couple weeks before the Jerry character was to appear. If he had died in 2011, I would have changed the story, but I already had his part ready to go, and I didn’t have time to change it.
