Oh, how terrible, and pitiful. To think such a thing should come to this. Look at the damage, the brokenness. That such a thing should happen to a poor, innocent, defenseless hat.

“Rafer Frost is dead! Long live Rafer Frost!”
Yes, it is an hereditary title.

Over the weekend, I was thinking about Rafer’s powers disappearing. Same thing happened when Lucius killed the werewolf (the nature of the forest changed and the cloak became less blood-colored). However, with L’Omino, Rufus and Biff seemed to return to normal only after getting the whip handle. Either L’Omino wasn’t seriously disabled, his powers aren’t normally reversible, or it just took a really long time for the donkey/chicken effects to wear off. It’s possible that whatever the Takers are in the middle of doing at the time reverts back to normal when they lose their powers (keeping the lights off, putting a glamour on a piece of cloth), but completed actions (turning someone into an animal, stealing memories) can’t be undone even if the Taker dies.

Rafer looks like a desiccated big bird. He may, however, be down, but I wouldn’t count on his being out. Not yet!

After all, a guitar blow to the head just seems too easy.

That guitar blow mangled his hat, and knocked it from his head. I sorta think that’s important.

Could it be that the malevolence of Rafer Frost is contained in a sentient and evil hat? Someone who works with people who make rocks and busts of Beethoven talk shouldn’t be surprised by a talking (or at least thinking) hat. Of course, Im sure my suspicion is misplaced…

Wow, I didn’t realize the first rays of dawn were so mean.
TSOJ, I believe you have the right idea!

It involves a sledgehammer, a railway spike, a gallon of petrol, and a white BIC lighter. However, survival rate is very low.

So we think, what, that there’s some evil magic in that old silk hat on the ground?

Don’t place it on his head, boys, he might begin to dance around….
