Welcome to a land of strange stories and weirdly-spun yarn, where oddities and unmentionables lurk behind every tale. Here you will witness the plight of the mysterious Heckbender, suffer the misadventures of Derring-Do Dan, learn the unsettling secret of the Slynderfell Ice Cream Cavalcade, and behold the unraveling of The Bogey. A word of caution: stay on the sidewalks, avoid shortcuts through Halfrock Swamp, and do NOT under any circumstances make business transactions with C. Percival Trullus.

Looks like the very, very last “Calvin and Hobbes” strip, but with Watterson contemplating for the final inspiration. It is, indeed, a magical world.

no, the worst of it was that Melissa had forgotten their son :(
benklaz said, about 1 year ago
The design for Melissa seems to be taken from the 22 July, 1988 strip (or vice versa).

Something, some toy or the like, was left behind, as in each of the Bogey’s abductions. Poor Mr. Watterson. Now at last we know the real reason he ceased cartooning (as well as the inspiration for that final “Calvin and Hobbes” strip)….

“The worst was when I turned around and the house was gone. And I’d just made the last payment on it, too.”

Love this – enjoying every second! (This is reminding me of my grade school, where the teacher would read to us for a half hour first thing every morning…) Thank you, Kory : )
Interesting that the kids from ‘our’ story have disappeared overnight from their rooms, and Bill’s son Marvin disappeared during the day, while playing outside…

Awesome Kory! Marvin is even dressed like Calvin from the last strip.

I don’t know if you all realize it, but “Calvin & Hobbes” was originally going to be “Marvin & Hobbes”, but a strip called “Marvin” came out before Calvin & Hobbes was launched.

And as I recall last year Lió found Calvin’s bones an a stuffed tiger in the snow. And we also see a news paper saying a boy is missing from 1990. A masterful bit of Kory an it isn’t over yet. Lovecraft would be proud!
