    Why is ‘dry’ a term used in such a way? They are LIQUIDS!

    IMO… As opposed to sweet… one isn’t going to describe a fine wine as unsweet or sour, but dry to the palate creates a better image…

    Many full-bodied red wines are high in tannins, naturally occurring compounds in grapes which contribute to the structure and texture of the wine. Tannins are generally described as having a drying, almost gritty or sandy texture in the mouth. People who are new to wine often describe these wines as very dry because the coarse tannins feel dry and astringent in their mouth.

    And “Wine Snobs” are true masters of using hype, hokum, and obfuscation to make people think that there is a lot of difference between a $5 bottle from the Kroger, and a $500 bottle from some exclusive vintner!
    “A light, fruity start, with hints of cinnamon and clove, leading to a slightly tart finish…”
    Boloney!

    I’d buy a bottle with a hint of boloney.

    Not a wine drinker, but aren’t grapes made into wine or raisins, and would a dry wine be made from raisins?

    @Jon Ormsbee

    No, wine made from raisins (or any dried fruit) is very sweet because of the concentrated sugars.

    What’s this bottle stuff? Doesn’t wine come in a box?

    Exactly! And with a convenient pour spout.
    Ever try putting the cork back into a bottle. No wonder the wine snobs are such lushes
