Since Lola is probably living at Ray’s house without paying anything it’s time she started contributing something. Either by paying rent or helping around the house. She could still be the grumpy, demanding person that she is to make the comic funny, but . . . . She’s so ungrateful.

She already paid her dues by raising him for free.

If you read the strip from the beginning, Lola moved in at ray’s insistence after she widowed. She was fine on her own. I probably should bring that up occasionally again.

IF she’s living at Ray’s house rent free he’s probably claiming her as a dependant on taxes, but no where in the comic is the implication she’s not contributing to the household monetarily or otherwise, and either way she does watch Sammy, and at the cost of a live in nanny, she’s cheap!!

Lola used to appear in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch until it did away with good comics and replaced them with stupid stuff. It also dropped 9 Chickweed Lane, Rose Is Rose and others. I haven’t read the Lola comic from the beginning so was not aware of the situation. Thanks for filling me in. Maybe she would be happier living on her own. Perhaps nearby, but not next door, etc.

Thanks for that perspective on the situation. Why would Sammy need to be cared for by a live in nanny? He’s old enough to take care of himself for a few hours before and after school. As for holidays and the summer, there are alternatives such as programs through the Y. It’s expensive for a nanny and Sammy doesn’t need one.
