    I wonder if Lisa knows that the rest of the country wishes California would sink into the Pacific already?

    If California slips into the Pacific, who would we make fun of?

    Boots has it backwards… everything east of the Rockies should slip under the Atlantic.
    Disclaimer: I live in Ohio.

    Priority establishment: High speed rail or water.

    You can’t store water until you get water. And California is being more screwed by climate change than most, but it’s coming to your state too until we put a tax on carbon.

    Funny how their rainfall isn’t dropping no matter how much you lie about it, their reservior capacity however has been cut repeatedy over the last couple of decade because they put environmental dogma before human lives.

    If the economy of California were to go under (especially as it is the ONLY state in the US, that is in the top 20 economies in the world!) the economy of the rest of the 49 states will soon follow in the greatest economic disaster this country has ever seen!!

    This is especially true as the federal taxpayers in the state of California pay $1.00 into the federal treasury and only get back some $0.78 in federal services in return. So the taxpayers of California are the “makers” of the economic income for the federal government, and red states such as Mississippi (with one dollar in federal revenue, as opposed to over $2.00 in federal benefits) are the “takers” of the federal government!

    Heck, there is even a movement in California that would like to see our state remove itself from the US for this reason! Then, as the state of California also has the three largest ports in the US for the entry of goods (especially from such Pacific manufacturing powerhouses as China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan) that we could then raise vast sums of money with tariff fees for those goods (which of course would then be paid for by the consumers in the rest of you good states). Money that we could then easily afford to have both high speed rail and desalinated water. Of course, we could also have the by far largest agribusiness in the US to also charge far higher prices to the rest of you! So, be very careful just what the rest of you wish for, you may get it and then it would be too late to realize that you get the short end of the stick!!

    I am only posting this somewhat of a rant as every state has its problems and its assets, and I never disrespect any state for that. So I sometimes grow very tired of the kind of hatred that I see exhibited by not only this particular Editorial cartoonist for my own state, but many of the other ultra conservative jerks here as well!!

    Well stated. It would be interesting to see what would happen should California withhold its fruits, nuts, wines, and other food products from the rest of the country, just for a week or so.

    ^^^ Oh yeah and those dumb little Ca. companies like Google, Apple and Facebook should sink too!
    Who uses any of those products?
    What they need is to get rid of stupid laws preventing the storage of water so they can protect a small bait fish that’s not endangered.

    @I Play One On TV

    Thank you, I do try to counter the ultra conservative hysteria about California that I sometimes see here.

    Heck, I wonder how many of our same ultra conservatives that take the entire state of California to be just a totally liberal haven, realize that one of the most conservative (and certainly one of the wealthiest) of the Republican congressmen in the House of Representatives has his base and district in the 49th district of Southern California . Yep, one of the darlings of the tea party types, with the name of Darrell Issa!!

    Maybe you should tax Antarctica for storing all that ice that isn’t falling as rain elsewhere.Or Greenland. Which ain’t near as green as it was when it got named Greenland.

    Why “try Google”? Google isn’t the one making the (unsubstantiated) claims, now, is it?
