Ms Benson is certainly being generous today. The San Jose Mercury News gives a somewhat larger number (her unfunded liabilities number is from last year), and the right wing alarmist press gives a much bigger number.

People blame the 2008 crash on Bush, but they forget that Bush was made into a “lame duck” president in the 2006 election when Democrats took Congress. The Bush Administration warned repeatedly about Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac and what thus became the 2008 financial crisis. Democrats resisted and kept to their party line, extending loans to people who couldn’t afford them –– just like you would expect of socialists.

The next time someone talks about the Obama inheriting the “Bush economy”, inform them about these facts.

As had been pointed out, look to CA as the model of what not to do. It is a prime example of what happens when liberals hold too much power for too long. You can certainly point to the crooked politicians and corrupt unions as a very large part of their problem, but you cannot overlook the extremely idiotic voters that keep putting worthless schlubs in power and meekly following what they say. The smart money is abandoning CA completely, the worst business climate in the nation, and heading for more rational climes.

It was a republican, "Howard Arnold Jarvis (September 22, 1903 – August 11, 1986) was an American businessman, lobbyist, and politician. He was an anti-tax activist responsible for passage of California’s Proposition 13 in 1978.(wikipedia) who strangled California’s ability to pay its bills.

    .
You seem to be miserable about something.

Political parties don’t make loans, banks do.

So, why did they continue to spend money they didn’t have? That over spending attitude is one reason why I left california in 1978.

You choose to be willingly ignorant that Frank and Dodd pressured them. Do you ever wake up?

My opinion, people (and businesses) were still demanding services from the government tho they did not pay for them.

Bush let Paulson loot the empty treasury and Obama let tax cheat Geithner continue the process.
