Shanghai in China is moving further ahead as the world’s top performing education system, with first place in tests in maths, reading and science. Oh, Lisa, and they’ve got ‘socialized’ healthcare.

Well, no. The web site for insurance enrollment didn’t work. Fiscally, in the first term, we did NOT have a depression. Internationally, we no longer have the burden of an Iraq-war-forever and Iran is at the table. Dare we hope for Palestinian-Israeli settlement?

What bothers me is the number who hoped for a failed presidency and worked very hard to make it happen.

Okay, I may be blind. I could be called brain-dead. I don’t go by cults of personality or any other cult and am certainly not an ozombie. But I do care about the unemployed and people who can’t afford medical insurance. Not to mention the truly dead and maimed brave soldiers fighting the fool’s errand (Cheney-Bush’s) in Iraq.

The Obama presidency will be judged some years from now, but my view is it will be measured by its successes in spite of virulent opposition.

But Obamacare IS actually a good thing for America. Have you been paying attention to the huge drop in the rate of health care cost increases? To the vast increase of people with insurance? Have you read the Washington Post’s great article on the ACA in Kentucky?

I had such a great Thanksgiving. Spent time with my granddaughter and avoided talking politics with my daughter, and I’m still overeating delicious leftovers.

However, I did hear some interesting stories. The death panels have arrived in the form of Republican governors who decided not to expand Medicaid in their states. The link supplies an example.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-25/obamacare-cutbacks-shut-hospitals-where-medicaid-went-unexpanded.html

Those ACA haters who want to continue the Emergency Room tax that is already bankrupting our nation rather than propose a better solution, act as if the website IS the law rather than a tool to gain access to the healthcare the law is trying to provide. Your claims that this law will bankrupt our nation means little when the current system is also bankrupting our nation while failing to provide preventive care and education that could make our neighbors healthier and reduce the strain on our medical system.

I will repeat myself… THE ACA IS A FLAWED BILL! It is also the only healthcare bill that has been made law. Fix the law. Bring in experts from hospitals where practices are making a difference in health and costs and instead of surgically striking at opponents in a game of “my party is better than yours”, work together as neighbors and Americans.

George Washington would find many things about our society distasteful, from women wearing short skirts to mixed marriage between races and the sexes and more. But what I think he would find most distasteful, and downright sad, is the degree to which moneyed interests have been able to turn neighbor against neighbor and the degree to which Congress is unable to do its job. I hope as we go into this season of sharing and caring, and remembering the kindness and respect we were taught as children to display, we can also put aside spite and find better ways with which to speak to one another.

    Respectfully,
    C.

NY Times had an interesting article yesterday about cut fingers costing over $600 a stitch, at a hospital with corporate “philosophy” that provides for just 1% of there $ going to care for the uninsured and indigent, out of profits of $1.2 TRILLION per year! Yep, hospitals are going broke just all over the land, cue Peter, Paul, and Mary to add a verse.

While some hospitals indeed DO care more about providing care, than making excessive profits, they are NOT the GOP supported model.

    What “successes” has Obama had?
    .
Just google “Obama success list” and take your pick. You probably won’t – you’re just another virulent Obama-hater, but others might check it out.

At first, one applicant in four, who think they have a completed application. The fact is, their name didn’t make it to the processor, so they can’t even be informed they are not registered. A private company would be sued for such incompetence, as Obama Care.

AND YOU WANT TO TELL ME BERRY OR CATHLENE DID NOT KNOW ? yOU CAN’T BE THAT IGNORANT!
