The only thing that needs to be reformed is that fence and the way we coddle people who intentionally break our laws.

Free schooling for your kids? No problem.
    No income tax? No problem.
Medicaid and Food Stamps? All yours.
Go back to your country(whatever it is) and apply for legal entry like the millions of LEGAL immigrants have done for decades.

You don’t like that? Then don’t come back.

Actually, you know, we are all illegal immigrants.

Go find the nearest Native American and ask him/her how that worked out for them.

Yeah, and while you’re at it, tell us how it will stop illegal drugs from crossing the border. The so-called war on drugs is proof that there will be a supply as long as there is a demand. Punish the companies who hire illegal immigrants. End the demand, and the supply will dry up.

True reform of the kind you mention will never happen as long as Democrats (and some shady Repubs, though there aren’t nearly as many of them) go shoppin’ around for handouts to fill their bills with carve-outs for shady employers.

That is not true. My Grandparents came through Ellis Island in compliance with the laws of the time. You can come up with all of the cute little sayings that you want, but illegal is still illegal!!!!

@ those who say that only the Native American are truly legal immigrants. I guess if you want to go even further. No one is an illegal immigrant by biblical standards,( or those who do not believe in the bible) the beginning of time, we were all born to this world which belongs to us all. Wherever we are.

I don’t care about semantics as much as this world is now based upon rule of law. We must now follow and enforce them. We cannot just up and move to other countries without going through the proper channel. So why should it be different here. I am sure if it were not a political vote many were after, we would already have a closed border. We have never rejected anyone who has attempted to come here legally unless they were a threat or convicted of a heinous crime. But now we are afraid to hurt the feelings of a culture that chooses to disobey the law. I do not dislike other cultures, diversity has made us what we are. If I must adhere to the law, I believe it should be enforced in this matter also. No one has ever said, nor do they now, that anyone should not be given the opportunity to come here legally. Just because they are here and some have created families under false pretenses that they should remain. This is a tough point for me because of our rule of law. We have given them reason to come here illegally, ie. citizenship for an infant being born here, offering employment without much retribution and the ability to help their family in their country with the money from here. This has exasperated illegal activity by the creation of false documents and stolen identities so that they would have identification for employment and other transactions.

Why doesn’t America guard it’s southern border like Mexico guards theirs?
Many of these immigrants are from Central America and came through Mexico so obviously had to cross Mexican borders.

Arrest those who hire illegal aliens and a fine that effects stockholders and executives of the company.
There are many other things our nation could do, but it requires a democracy where people compromise and negotiate with each other, and we don’t have that at this time. Geo. Washington warned us… political parties would weaken and divide the nation and money in politics would corrupt the politicians.
    Sadly,
    but respectfully,

    We’re talking about today kiddo

Your comment leads me to think you believe man walked amongst dinosaurs. Close, but out by a few millions of years. Primates 1st appeared about 65 million years ago, after the age of the dinosaurs, the Mesozoic era

“Tear down that fence Mr. Obama!”

Didn’t see that coming. What a great observation, and what can one say about a party who deifies the guy who told Mr. Gorbachev to tear down the wall while wanting Mr. Obama to put one up?

The highlight of my day. Thanks.

Evidently their borders are no more secure than ours, or Central Americans wouldn’t be able to pass through their country.

The poster upthread had it right, though. Punish the companies which are running on illegal labour, and the flood will stop. Not much else will end it. The constant harping about illegal immigration is pure hypocrisy. It’s the power structure that wants that cheap labour, not the public, which gains nothing from it.
