Do we actually blame the actions of individual employees on the CEO’s of large corporations? I think not. So why should we blame the individual actions of the largest political entity on earth in the federal establishment on the President of the USA? And note, while he might set incorrect general policies (such as GW Bush did with the Iraq war), I never even blamed GWBush (or any other president for that matter) for the individual actions of federal employees, regardless of just how wrong those actions might have been!!

On the CEO’s line, there are many liberals who howled during the initial recession and threw the CEO’s and presidents of many large corporations under the bus. “Fat Cats” ring a bell? You condemn their actions for guiding the direction of a company, but you refuse to condemn the actions of the President guiding the direction of the government. Same principle.

" That should be “scandals”; they’ve all pretty much fallen apart."

I think that is more a hope than a reality.

@ ConserveGov – Interesting how a person can be “not guilty” but still be responsible. How much of the protections given by that “Umbrella” was meant to give him plausible deniability? No one tells him so he doesn’t have to admit knowing? I hope that is not the case. That is not leadership. Leadership means taking responsibility and resolving the issues. Mr. Obama is disappointing me in that regard.
@ Robert Landers – CEO’s don’t get elected. The political dynamics in a board room are much more ‘civilized’ and final than those of our tribal parties, the Reps and Dems. The sins of the one are the sins of all. If one Republican is corrupt they all are. If one Democrat is showing pics of himself on twitter, ALL of them do. That said, I do believe Mr. Obama needs to show leadership on this issue and make it resolved asap.
So many of our fellow commentators say ALL dems are stupid, or ALL conservatives are dumb. It does not advance the debate nor does it Unite our neighbors. Thank you, Mr. Landers, for not being one of those narrowminded voices, onguard to attack message and messenger alike.

We blame military commanders for their troop’s actions. Upper management fires or disciplines lower management for the actions or lack of action by employees and avoids being disciplined themselves for their actions while taking bonuses. At what level does it become ok to be immune from the consequences of those you are under you leadership? It has been my experience the employees start to mirror the bosses examples.

I know this won’t go anywhere but I’m going to try. I’ll go as far as to accept that Obama may not have had any knowledge of the three scandals, but where’s your source on that these are manufactured?

    1. Benghazi talking point drafts have been released complete with signatures of who changed the wording.
    2. IRS was specifically targeting certain groups applying for tax-exempt status for “special review” purely on their name. The managers and emails have proven this.
    3. The justice department has clearly documented signed warrants seeking the phone logs of dozens of AP and Fox News reporters.

These are all documented facts. Again, if BO didn’t have any knowledge of these facts, then that will be vetted. But if it is the case it’s telling in itself.

I actually agree with you somewhat. I tried to make the same arguments when Bush was blamed for FEMAs lack of response with Hurricane Katrina. It never works. However, I do think at the very least Obama is culpable fostering an environment where he is shielded from any responsibility.

I think Lisa is being respectful of our military by not displaying them as merely umbrella-holders, and it would probably be safe to assume that the Secret Service would be closest to the president, and, therefore, the ones holding his umbrella for him.

As to “Umbrellagate”, I would like more information. Did Obama directly order the Marine to hold the umbrella? Did Obama order someone else to order the Marine to hold the umbrella? Who supplied the umbrella? Was it paid for with taxpayer money or a loan? What happened to the umbrella after it’s use?
If satisfactory answers are not forthcoming, I demand a full investigation by an independant counsel!

As Commander of our armed forces, O is capable of ordering the Marine to hold the uniform, but it probably would have been passed down, along the chain of command. The umbrella was a steal at only $1.6 million, since it went to a small business, minority owned company, specializing in Kevlar and titanium alloyed, bullet/mortar/RPG proof shields. Also, the military prefer not to call it an umbrella (considering the price tag), but go by it’s contract acronym: Deflect or Impair Anti-Personnel Explosives and Rhetoric, or DIAPER. The proper mode of deployment is called, “putting the DIAPER on the President.”
