Yes, a terrible Middle East policy, seeing if the U.S. can help maintain peace, instead of killing a few hundred thousand civilians, and a few thousand of our troops, and running up a three trillion dollar tab for it.

Is this cartoon perhaps inspired because some fool didn’t know the difference between petrol (USA=gas) and decided on diesel to fill up a presidential limo with the wrong fuel?
In Portugal we’d sometimes get American tourists attempting to fill up their petrol hire-cars with diesel (gasóleo) instead of petrol (gasolina). Gasóleo must be the same as gasolina. :-|

Ahhh, Lisa, do you read the news or just sketch in the opinions of yer editor? The President’s little visit has been going rather well, even from the Israeli point of view. Witness the accord with Turkey.

That can’t be Obama, the character appears to do doing some work.

One could probably come up with many a parable about the government and gasoline in a diesel vehicle.

So many people telling us what won’t work, or who can’t do it. As if anyone has been able to do anything to make things better in the middle east.

Anyone have any better ideas? Anyone can say how bad someone’s policies are. Remember the problems have a head start…..several thousand years of animosity. Good luck.

Excellent article, I agree with the writer.
“…Obama’s visit to Israel and the Palestinian Authority did mark an important shift, but only on part of his policy…..
    “….that step is a victory for Israel….
“But Obama has not abandoned the pro-Islamist policy that has created a far more dangerous security situation for Israel, and in fact made Arab-Israeli peace an even more distant dream.”
“The main international problem he needs to deal with is the Middle East itself, especially the two issues he focused on for his visit: Iran and Syria.”
(IMO and in the writer’s opinion, Obama’s 2013 “negotiating” with Iran will be futile and unable to stop Iran’s nuclear bomb.)

If the cartoon was to be accurate, it would show Israeli and Palestinian leaders running away with a siphon and the US provided fuel from the vehicle.
We’ve invested a lot of money in this part of the world and US taxpayers in the 50’s and 60’s helped compensate oil companies and other businesses who found their holdings nationalized by our ‘allies’. It is a classic case of the resentful nephews demanding more treats from a generous Uncle, but Uncle Sam doesn’t have the treats it once had. 12 years of war and international companies who no longer have the sense of loyalty and duty to our nation they once did and partisan political parties has damaged our infrastructure, spirit, and int’l credibility.
That said, Mr. Obama did do good things on his visit, even if the only thing that happens is Turkey and Israel restoring their political ties. We don’t have the money and resources needed to make a difference and until we fix what is wrong in our own house, it will be very hard to do anything for our int’l neighbors. I am one of those who feel we can build our way out of debt, but only if we do projects that last, and there are some good ideas out there.

Y’know, I see a lot of opinions in these posts, but most are
rambling, incoherent, full of bad grammar, misspellings, and immature comments..kindergarten time anyone?
