The insurance company dropped me like a rock when I developed cancer. . If obamacare had passed sooner I would not be nearly so bitter towards the republican congress that enabled my suffering. . People almost not making it now are going to be hurt by the current gridlock. . Yes, I tossed the word ‘stupid’ around a lot. I have cancer and their stupidity is costing me life, not just money. . Damn them to hell.
I don’t know which party built this part of the bridge, but I don’t see any construction on the other side of the bridge. (and please, no hackneyed party of “NO” comments)
If I recall the Reps built this part of the bridge, then created a committee that was to design the rest. The committee really did try and came up with a design which the Dems accepted but the Reps rejected. I think they thought this would influence the election enough to win. My dollar is on the table says they jump, expecting that to make them look good and fiscally responsible. Two years from now, after purposefully doing nothing perhaps the electorate will see the light and elect some Dems and Reps who can think.

Stipple, You have my sympathy and I empathize with you. I have lost many friends because insurance companies refused to insure or insurance was unaffordable. Part of wisdom is knowing the difference between a problem and a crisis. The national debt is a problem; it’s not a crisis; there’s time to work on it in a sensible fashion. The so-called fiscal crisis was manufactured for political reasons. The problem of the debt was used to create a political crisis. If we could put the politics aside we could find solutions to the problem.
Mix a snifter of Bill Mauldin, a dash of Jeff McNelly and a very large dollop of common sense, and you begin to get an idea of Lisa Benson’s considerable talent.
