Pointless. Just like the “stimulus” was in the U.S.

^ Yup, just let the whole system collapse. We’ll do MUCH better going back to hunter-gathering.

It’s almost ironic; European socialism’s economic collapse could very well further damage our economy leading to the defeat of the most socialistic tyrant in US history! Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy!

the fall is coming one way or another. The longer you hold on and pretend you can fix it with bailouts and inflation, the harder it’s going to hurt. Get it over with

The big question is whether we are next. A lot of uncontrolled spending over the past several years has put us in a precarious position as well. If we don’t change the direction we’re in this November we’ll be in trouble as well.

You pay too much attention to the republican bloviating gasbags and not enough to current events.

    Did Paul Krugman inspire this?
Leaning further to the right brings disaster.
Enough pull to the left might save it.
Austerity is for the fat times.

The lifelines are, indeed, on the left. You don’t think Lisa did that on purpose, do you?

Imagine one of these stakes in the ground to be Chancellor Merkel. Picture her. Does she look to you like someone easily moved or uprooted? Does she look in any way fragile or feminine to you? Do you feel better when she smiles or are you worried?

I swear to the Linux source-code (can’t swear to any god, atheist…) that if she didn’t have a moment to think about where she was at that moment GWB would have returned from that famous summit (where he tried to give her a back-rub) with a black eye, a broken nose and some missing teeth!

As long as she is there I don’t worry about the Euro, and I am on the far, far left of her, politically (but, right or wrong, my Chancellor!)…

What happens when the Chancelor wearies of driving stakes and tying safety lines for the PIIGS that won’t help themselves?

in a recession the only way out IS spending (ref the WPA) why do you think they call it stimulus rather than money-for-nothing or kick-backs whichever comes first

this is absolutely false. at least read a little high school history and see how these issues were handled in the past. there is no choice but to hold on – it’s the only thing that’s worked!

listen to the economists – don’t spend big when everything’s good. when recession hits, spend. please read your history.
