That’s a funny one Lisa Benson. I still think it will stimulate the economy to have casino’s in every State to do away with taxes and improve building’s.

Av8tor has a good point. We allowed the Eco-warriors and the trial lawyers and the tax and spend congress develop all sorts of ways to stick their hands in the pockets of businesses that created jobs and drove the economic engine of this country and they finally got tired of it and took their work to other more business friendly countries.

    Atlas Shrugged!!!!

In Florida the Lotto was to create a “bright futures” scholarship program that provided a 75% scholaship for those that could maintain a 2.75 GPA. It did that.

Lottery is a tax on people who failed probability in school.

Hey doc, propping up those who suck on the teet of big government will only breed more. Letting those who make the money keep the money will breed more money for all. That is only one of the principles that make the FAIR TAX, the smartest thing out there. Plus Obama is the one that told us that with this stimulus “Good government jobs will trickle down and help the community they are in.” Plus unemployment will not go above 8%.

Lets just look at NY Cal. And now NJ in their plan to tax the evil rich. Trickle up poverty at it’s finest.

Thos Jefferson defined lotteries as voluntary taxes. A definition that appeals to me more is that of an anonymous Italian legislator of long ago, who called it a tax on the stupid.

People will play lotteries as long as they think they are fair.

How many states switched from industry and real jobs to lotteries to bring home the “bacon”? How many tax concessions did any “corporate entity” require before they would even consider locating their “stateside” operations? How many “patriotic” companies, like Toyota, kept assembly plants in the U.S. to provide jobs HERE?

It was tax cheats, not environmentalists, who drove jobs overseas.

Change: The majority of any cities revenue comes from property taxes proportioned out by their county. I’ll bet that the rate of foreclosed homes went up tremendously around the times that you have listed. This is another product of deregulating and allowing Greedy Old People to grab as much wealth as they could & ruin our economy.

(ahem. Just like nappies still having safety-pins, why do “one-arm” bandits still have one-arms in the ‘toons. Not that I gamble but all the slot machines I’ve seen all over (Monte Carlo, Sun City, Estoril, UK in general) have buttons; no arms anymore and has been so since at least the mid ’90s.)
