where’s English Teacher when you need her?

Harley, I have a feeling this is not a typo, so perhaps you should know that a slash going across something would be a “slash through” … a slash that has a magical ability to move objects would be a “slash threw”

    Ok, you’re the boss.

When there’s nothing better to say, just attack their grammar.

harleyquinn and WestTex13 are beyond redemption, for their muddled grammar reflects their muddled thought patterns.

Ahh, but when the only focus is on the grammar then the content is often overlooked… So which is more important the idea or the inane?

    Ahhhhhh! Harley’s bushisms at work.

Seriously, I want to know why his ratings are dropping. What type of questions were asked. There’s a big difference between,”Would you like the government to offer healthcare” and “Would you like the government to run your healthcare”. With statistics asking the right questions will get you favorable results.

But I bet some idiot right winger won’t be able to tell the difference.

Last time I am a thought to text, post it notes on the net kind of guy. The message is more important then the method. Plus it drives the PC Anal crowd nuts.

  11. WestTex13

    WestTex13 said, 2 months ago

Ratings are dropping d_legendary1 because he promised so much to so many in often opposing directions. Then again thats just what Politicians (left or right) do so we shouldn’t hold that against him… Then again as I’ve often said, if you provide the numbers stats can make them say whatever you want them to..

actually WestTex I pointed out a mis-used or incorrect word to HQ. I thought he should know the word he used gave a very different meaning than the word he meant.

compare: “the slash through the circle” to “the slash threw the circle”

HQ & Tex: if you understood the fact that half the time, other posters have no idea what your message even IS because of your lousy grammar and spelling, you’d put more thought into it.

    No West-tex,

He didn’t promise crapola. He just talked and people injected what they wanted to have heard him say into what he said.

It was bizzarro world to me.

Now people are like, you promised this, “Uh, no I didn’t.”

The one thing he did promise was to “reach across the aisle”

Who coulda foresawn that wasn’t gonna work?

    English Teacher…

    Get a history book.

“Who coulda foresawn that?” is a reference to George W. Bush’s excuse for his administration’s terrible track record, particularly as regards Katrina.

I’d have used quotation marks but it’s not a direct quote. And given the wrenching irony of the context, I expected my reader to understand.

I refuse to limit my writing such that a sixth grader will easily understand it.

my head is spinning … I’m thinking …

Eng Teach wasn’t/isn’t satipera, dear Humphs, and I know you don’t think much of either

is RV saying Bush actually said “foresawn” rather than “foreseen” ?

  26. charliekane

    charliekane said, 2 months ago

Perhaps a term referring to previously cut wood?

  27. ReasonsVentriloquist

    ReasonsVentriloquist said, 2 months ago

He may not have said “Foresawn” but I’m fairly certain he said at least “foresaw” as in “Who coulda foresaw that the levees would give way?”

Given his grasp of the native tongue, it is not a stretch to think that he would have combined “Foreseen” and “Foresaw.”

I refuse to limit my writing to what has been written by others.
