Maybe it’s lame to be the fourth person to say it, but: AWWWW.

Awww! (Okay, so I’m 5th; but it’s appropriate.) It’s good to see the King and Lio remember a beautiful actress (15 IX 07-8 VIII 04).

AWWW! I’m 6th, but who’s counting?
R.I.P. Fay Wray

At least she lived for over 96 years, nearly made it to 97.

Reports of Kong’s demise were greatly exaggerated.
The Beauty is laid to rest,
She the Beast loved best.
To what heights shall he aspire?
What now his great heart’s desire?

Mark, you sure have a lovely touch. First the tribute to Farrah Fawcett, now this.
Very moving.

“Whatever happened, to Fay Wray?
That beautiful, satined draped frail?
As it clung to her thigh
And I started to cry
Because I wanted to be dressed just the same.”
(Sorry, I can’t do the Tim Curry voice)

Carl Denham got one of the best final lines in any movie. “Oh, no, it wasn’t the airplanes. It was Beauty killed the Beast.”
Oh, and you’re all correct. Awwwww.

The 1970s “King Kong” was pretty good, but it just wasn’t the same. I’ve heard nothing good about the 2000s version, so I won’t even bother to see it. Maybe what they were both missing was Ms. Wray.
PS: Aaaawwwww.
whardin1960 said, about 1 month ago
Dypak I always thought it was “frame”, not “frail.” Your way works, too, I guess. Still appropriate. Here’s e-lyrics take on the song:
Whatever happened to Fay Wray?
That delicate satin draped frame
As it clung to her thigh, how I started to cry
‘Cause I wanted to be dressed just the same

This is sweet. However, I can’t find any significance tied to the date, 18 October. Am I missing something? Is it just the artist’s choice?

I will have to add my own Awwwww how sweet of Lio and Kong to remember the best of the three Beauties that Kong fell for. Was a nice touch and brought a quiet smile while eating my Breakfast today.
Hats off to Mark. Your comic is the first one I turn to in my Sunday Paper.

SherlockWatson: I thought the 70s version kind of lame, and like the latest version. There was more interaction between Kong and the girl, and you could see a bond (two-way) develop.
OpenWings said, about 1 month ago
Hey Ji2m that’s exactly what I was confused about!!! Her DOD is listed as 8 August 2004, so what is the significance? Today isn’t her birthday either. Er, sorry if I’m being naive everyone! but I honestly don’t know :o\
I should add an awwwwww here for good measure :o)

That’s what I get for not asking my wife before I hit the ‘post comment’ button. She really let me have it! Thanks for fixing my mistake. Sad to say I havent seen those lips in probably 10 years.
Oh! And let’s not forget Rocky climbing to the top of the RKO tower and it coming down in the pool, a la Kong.
