Capp is using the Bikini Atoll for Termiti island. That would be 1946-47? Not the Hbomb in 54. (Godzilla was 1954. People were already thinking radiation creates monsters by that point.)
1947 for breaking sound barrier and rise of jets.

No need to ask granny, P51 type trainers are in current use in many places. Saw a number of em’ last year.
