I remember when nuclear weapons (or “atomic bombs”) were not only not a problem but were downright beneficent. I recall the weatherman saying, “The fallout cloud from the latest atom bomb test in Nevada will be passing overhead tomorrow, but don’t worry, it’s harmless.”
And no, no Sunday strips. I recall they existed, but they don’t show here.

A-bombs first but soon after H-bombs, A-bombs used to set off H-bombs! Destruction. Nothing could survive the gamma ray burst then heat and pressure shock waves. Not at ground zero. Except in popular culture that is.
