   Kinda sorta on topic:
   When I was station at at NAS Point Mugu, there was a man soaking carburetor parts in gasoline, while smoking a cigarette, not the brightest thing to do. His 13 year old daughter was about to open the adjoining door from the kitchen to tell him dinner was ready when the cherry fell off his cigarette, and ignited the gasoline. He threw the pan of flaming gasoline towards the door just as just as it opened. She caught it square in the face and received 2nd and 3rd degree burns above the neck. The adults were afraid the kids in school would be rotten towards her, as children tend to be, but the opposite happened and she became more of a celebrity among them.

    I hope and assume the father got what was coming to him. Stories like that make me want to run out and pass laws requiring intelligence testing for parenthood; but I suppose that’s not the answer.
