    OK, then I’ll pretend to forgive you…
    …until you fall asleep.

    Actually, for me it’s five: “I’m sorry- you were right”. Followed by a sad puppy face. Works about 70% of the time.

    Just so you can do it convincingly
    (And you’re off to a bad start, best to add jewelry for emphasis.)

    Is there supposed to be some humor here? If there is, it totally escapes me. If someone can point it out to me I would appreciate it.

    To quote the Possum Lodge motto from the Red Green show “I’m a man……… but I can change …….if I have to….I guess.”

    Hello Mr. Lustig,
    I’m wondering if you can help me find one of your old gags, it’s of a woman looking distraught and saying “Don’t say anything… just bring me coffee!”
    It would look great in our coffee mess at work.

    @bgarner

    Poor thing
    Explained humor isn’t humorous
    So even if we explained that saying that he would be pretending and insincere would undo the desired effect of the false words, the humor would continue to elude.
    .
    Not that you couldn’t laugh anyway.
