   Just had a guy high on medical marijuana kill a 19 year old girl here a few weeks ago. Very sad.

   My state had it legal from 1973-1997. (A $100 fine, never enforced.) I had to watch person after person I knew go on the skids. The worst effect was on their kids. The birth defects were severe.

    Seriously, though it has one serious side effect (diminished mental capacity for a much longer time than the “high” effect), marijuana does not make people violent, or cause birth defects, or lead to harder drugs.
    Violent people may be violent while using marijuana (this is unusual, but not unheard-of); and it may be a contributing cause to various cancers (no hard evidence yet, but ask Bob Marley how that whole ganja thing worked out for him); and, of course, acquiring ILLEGAL marijuana causes the users to be in constant contact with CRIMINALS which is generally shown to be very unhealthy, indeed, and association with criminals CAN lead to the use of dangerous drugs.
    But other than that, it is very sad that in this day and age, with access to the wealth of knowledge on the effing planet, there are still idiots promulgating the “Reefer Madness” lies from the 1950s and ’60s.

    The vehemently anti-smoking people are the same sanctimonious pr-cks who turn a blind eye to the detrimental effects of smoking marijuana. I don’t touch either but I’m not a jerk about it. I’m a jerk about other things.
