Yes, our gun laws need an overhaul. Another opportunity for trump to show leadership, but this will not happen.

The deck is stacked, the NRA put way too many Aces in and the GOP is dealing from the bottom of the deck. It will be too soon to talk about serious gun laws until the next massacre. I hate to have to ask this every time we break a new record, but 59 dead and 527 injured, is THAT enough people? Or does it have to be more, before we can have sensible discussions? How many people have to die before our leaders do something?

They do not understand the difference between a handgun and a hunting rifle or a semi-automatic and fully automatic assault rifle. Which of these are protected by the Second Amendment? That is truly the question that should be addressed. Can they not see the difference? Do they really believe that the founding fathers wished to protect the rights of Americans to go out and Massacre humongous amounts of people with assault rifles as compared to the right to go out and kill deer for the table or protect their home from an intruder? Can you see the difference? Do you think it’s a difficult decision to make?

Mass shooters will break gun laws, so there’s no point in having more gun laws.

    .

Drug users will break drug laws, so there’s no point in having more drug laws.

    .

Terrorists will attack us, so there’s no point in having a war on terror.

Mr. Paddock followed the laws of Nevada, which are very liberal and loose. Class III state.

Confiscate all firearms. Bring the troops home from overseas and send them house to house taking away everybody’s guns. Then take away the cop’s guns too. Then lock up the military’s guns in newly built (with union labor) fortress-like armories. Then employ our veterans and jobless in good union jobs rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure.

The word is TERRORIST! If gun laws, rational ones, don’t work, why do WE have the highest kill rate with guns, by FAR in the world, and that not only includes industrialized nations that allow regulated guns, we even kill more than some third world countries where EVERYBODY is a little nuts, AND have guns!

@Dtroutma. Terrorists act for a political, religious or ideological cause. They strike innocent people in a country or group that they consider as enemy of their cause in the hope that this terror will influence the rulers of this country and group and their actions toward their cause. Most of the time of course, they are delusional paranoid maniacs who see themselves as victimized and prefer to seed mayhem and destruction in what they imagine is their enemies instead of really working to further their cause. All of the time their are radicals and fundamentalists with no respect for other’s lives because one of the first thing that they define themselves with is that everyone who doesn’t share their ideology is the enemy (or at best a nobody). The mass shooting in Vegas does have all the ingredients of a terror attack, striking numerous innocent victims and creating fear and panic, but we need to know what cause the shooter was killing for before he can really be labeled a terrorist and not a mass murderer. If his intentions was “only” to kill as many people as possible, he is not a terrorist, he is a sick degenerate, more related to a serial killer. If he is just exacting some kind of personal revenge for a real or imaginary slight by society, he is not a terrorist either. One thing is certain, he had planned and prepared his act. Apparently he had intended to strike earlier at another concert (of a different style of music) where he had rented condo overlooking the area. But from the use of cameras in the corridor, we can think he didn’t want to be taken alive, which would have given him some kind of tribune to express his intentions, like Brevik in Norway for instance. I know isis claimed the attack, but they would also claim the hurricane attack on florida and the earthquake attack on mexico if they could. Maybe the investigation will shed some light on what he had in mind.

It’s not the number of dead.. it’s the wall to wall coverage that will annoy folks enough to finally get some action.. STOP with the coverage already!

The deck is pretty much all aces, thanks to the NRA and all their purchased legislators.

Terrorism is defined by the effect produced by the attack – not the ideology of the attacker – it is not determinative it is reactive. And the scattering of the concert audience was clearly terror-driven, not anger-driven!

Still, I tend to think of terrorists as pursuing an agenda that will terrorize people into giving them what they want, rather than face the act again.

I had a friend who used to say, “They want to kill us all!” To which I replied, “What good are 330 million corpses to them? They want to kill enough to scare us into giving them what they want.”

Maniacs don’t carefully plan out lethal attacks and prepare for them days ahead of time. Oh, but you know who does? TERRORISTS, in spite of our corporate media and the NRA trying to label this “maniac” as yet another “deranged, lone killer” (pronounced American, WHITE, male mass murderer).

Lalo, you really need to stop blaming people with mental disorders for this sort of thing. We only commit 4% of all crimes in the US. Odds are the Vegas shooter was sane.
