The deck is stacked, the NRA put way too many Aces in and the GOP is dealing from the bottom of the deck. It will be too soon to talk about serious gun laws until the next massacre. I hate to have to ask this every time we break a new record, but 59 dead and 527 injured, is THAT enough people? Or does it have to be more, before we can have sensible discussions? How many people have to die before our leaders do something?
They do not understand the difference between a handgun and a hunting rifle or a semi-automatic and fully automatic assault rifle. Which of these are protected by the Second Amendment? That is truly the question that should be addressed. Can they not see the difference? Do they really believe that the founding fathers wished to protect the rights of Americans to go out and Massacre humongous amounts of people with assault rifles as compared to the right to go out and kill deer for the table or protect their home from an intruder? Can you see the difference? Do you think it’s a difficult decision to make?
The word is TERRORIST! If gun laws, rational ones, don’t work, why do WE have the highest kill rate with guns, by FAR in the world, and that not only includes industrialized nations that allow regulated guns, we even kill more than some third world countries where EVERYBODY is a little nuts, AND have guns!
Terrorism is defined by the effect produced by the attack – not the ideology of the attacker – it is not determinative it is reactive. And the scattering of the concert audience was clearly terror-driven, not anger-driven!
Still, I tend to think of terrorists as pursuing an agenda that will terrorize people into giving them what they want, rather than face the act again.
I had a friend who used to say, “They want to kill us all!” To which I replied, “What good are 330 million corpses to them? They want to kill enough to scare us into giving them what they want.”
Lalo, you really need to stop blaming people with mental disorders for this sort of thing. We only commit 4% of all crimes in the US. Odds are the Vegas shooter was sane.

Yes, our gun laws need an overhaul. Another opportunity for trump to show leadership, but this will not happen.

Mr. Paddock followed the laws of Nevada, which are very liberal and loose. Class III state.

It’s not the number of dead.. it’s the wall to wall coverage that will annoy folks enough to finally get some action.. STOP with the coverage already!

The deck is pretty much all aces, thanks to the NRA and all their purchased legislators.
