Santa looks like the people who are seeing him. Rather like such supernatural creatures as gods look.

Stating emphatically that Santa is a white man is not a crisis. It is however an incredibly naïve statement.

The modern figure of Santa Claus is derived from the Dutch figure of Sinterklaas, which, in turn, has part of its basis in hagiographical tales concerning the historical figure of Christian bishop and gift-giver Saint Nicholas. During the Christianization of Germanic Europe, this figure may have absorbed elements of the god Odin, who was associated with the Germanic pagan midwinter event of Yule and led the Wild Hunt, a ghostly procession through the sky. Over time, traits of this character and the British folklore character Father Christmas merged to form the modern Santa Claus known today. Hmmmmm how many people of dutch descent are black? A few I am sure since Tolkien writes of “dark elves” in his epic but that is a relatively modern book.

Well, I looked but could not find a “Santa” myth from the African continent. That is not saying that there is not one.

Bottom line? People, it’s a MYTH! FOLKLORE! FAIRYTALE!
Since it was “adopted” by the “church” to make a move to Christianity more palatable to the pagan Germanic tribes, I would assume that the central figure of the myth would reflect the ethnic origins of those tribes.

Just as the man of Hebrew descent named Jesus must surly be dark skinned (though not a 100% certainty as with any other trait) OR red hair being a royal thing or associated with witch craft………yeah.

And through it all one thinks why is this important? Can’t a “Caucasian” mythical entity be kind and show love to all other people on the earth?

Sorry Lalo but I must agree with ERMitchell46. Your ’toon smacks of racism

Bruce4671: “Smacks” or reflects? Can you tell the difference? Would a Moorish-root Spanish surname have any effect on your opinion? Face this squarely.

Or, is it a cartoon pointing out racism is alive and well still in the USA? As odious as racism is, unfortunately, it still exists. What would Jesus say?

Exactly! Don’t you love it when those who don’t want to admit that Lalo is correct, claim he’s being racist. Sheesh! Bruce and ERMitchell46, need to see Michael wme’s link and actually think a bit more!

No……NO……….and what is your point? Are you saying that a Latino can’t be racist?

Just to be clear, I did not accuse Lalo of BEING racist only that his cartoon – and his opinion expressed therein – could be viewed as racism.

    Everyone is prejudiced, even you.

This is getting hilarious – the left is about as looney as they can be. They are milking this whole bigotry thing to the point of complete absurdity.

The Dutch have Zwarte Piet. Look it up, Sinterklaas’s contemporary (better, his companion). And don’t forget to black up.
