I welcome the day when putting a woman or putting a non-Caucasian on the Supreme Court does not frighten so many people
In the meantime, welcome Justice Sotomayor. You go girl!

I only hope that she has a long and dignified career as a Justice on the court and bases her opinions on law, and not on empathy.

No blind fold? how fitting.

Well, if she’s liberal enough, I’m sure she’ll go far. That’s all that is going on right now, spend, spend., and no end in sight.

I hope she serves well and shows that she deserves her position. Congratulations to Justice Sotomayor!

The Supreme Court WAS the most bigoted place in the US government. We need more women and minorities there.

So they can go back to being bigoted?
secondson said, 3 months ago
This idea that all factions of society must be represented on the Supreme Court is very convoluted, ridiculous, and speaks to the fact that a portion of our society is heavily entrenched in the politics of division. I believe he nominated her because of her qualifications. If the truth is otherwise then she is not qualified to be on the court. The court is about the rule of LAW, not about segmental representation.

I’m not sure the righties need to be so worried. Sotomayor may turn out to be a lot more conservative than they fear.
If so, suddenly they’ve find they love her perceived bias that right now they’re screaming about.

On a level plain, simple mounds look like hills; and the insipid flatness of our present bourgeoisie is to be measured by the altitude of its great intellects.

Why the Cuban Flag? She’s American!

The Puerto Rican flag looks the same in black and white, Tigger.
But you’re right; she was born in the U.S.A. And not in Hawaii, so she’s a real American. ;-)

I think she’s a strong intelligent woman and no one is going to tell her how to vote. We won’t know if she’s any good or not until the liberal tells us.

Yes, we need unbiased justices, like John Roberts … who has never ruled in favor of an employee bringing a discrimination or unfair practices claim, an individual over a business, a criminal defendant, or an environmental plaintiff.

CopperTop, I agree. We need our criminals, eco-freaks, and bad employees to be better represented in court cases. This unfairness has got to stop, already!
Copperdomebodhi said, 3 months ago
Ah yes, Pup. Because as we all know, the law can’t possibly favor someone who supports the environment, got fired from a job, or has been accused of a crime.
pbarnrob said, 3 months ago
OK, NFP, let’s see how you whine when you’re fired for not having the right degree!

Wow! Uhhh, my personal belief is that the scales of justice may be tilted toward the tolerance of frivolous law-suits…which would make copperTop’s concern unnecessary. I believe I was using sarcasm…
pbarnrob, my college degree was burned up in building 7…

It amazes me how the right refuses to acknowledge the FACTS… under every democratic president over the last 30 years, their has been surplus, and under every repuplican president there has been huge deficits… yet democrats are the ones who spend with no end in sight. I guess its okay to kill innocent Iraqis but not ok to help sick americans… gotta love the right, right?
