    I’ll take ten (canadian) buck’s value of that weed, for the few evenings where I don’t have anything better to do than stare at my screensaver.

    …but that’s not often.

    They say that the best works of art came under the influence of intoxication; Van Gogh and Lautrec (well, most painters of the early 20’th century) and their absinthe, beatniks and their pot, Baudelaire and his cocaine, hippies and their acid…
    WRONG! At least, it doesn’t work for meI tried to write or draw stoned or wasted but I just can’t stay focused.

    I got some good ideas while drunk, but I can’t devellop them. I have to note them and wait until I’m sober to paint, draw or write.

    But most of my ideas came while sober.

    I wonder if a border “wall” would have helped Napolitano interdict illegal gun shipments? …Hhhhmmmm? Oh wait a minute that would require someone to have made a decision. That would require someone to enforce the law against illegal gun traffickers, It’s so much easier to outlaw guns and put gun manufacturers and other legal entities out-of-business and behind bars…;^)

    ACtually, it’s easier to build a wall. A wall needs personnel to build it and after that, it’s over.

    I disagree C-Frog, the wall would need maintenance and policing; cost of emigration implications,etc. Putting Gun manufacturers out of business would take a few lib lawyers at the most…but inviolate our Constitution…that never bothered Libs before…

    People have been getting stoned for 250,000 years or however long the critters have walked the earth. I remember spinning around and around in the front yard until I fell on my butt, laughing and stoned out while the stars spun above my head. Maybe the police should start busting five year olds for wanting to get high. Oh well… prohibition did not work. If everything was legalized, and I mean everything, then the drug wars would end. And Uncle Sam could extract his nose from up everybody’s @ss on this planet.

    Sooky Rottweiler says;

    Good point, up there. Those who think only humans get high must have never seen a cat on catnip.

    Last time I saw one, she was coming on to me! WTF???

    rikoshayrabbit - If we followed your advice the problem would be that worker productivity would reach new all-time lows and product quality would become an oxymoron. Either that or the crime-wave (to afford one’s chosen mind-altering substance) would soar out of control!

    ^That would be the consequences of IRRESPONSIBLE drug use, just like irresponsible alcohol use or gambling. I believe it is possible to use marijuana responsibly.

    Sorry Will, you can’t control the human race, nor can the cops, the politicians, your parents, the school teachers, your priest, and on and on. It CAN NOT be controlled. Everybody is doing exactly what they want to do, right now, and it makes no difference whether there’s a law prohibiting it or not. I say legalize all of it. If you want to O.D. and check out, that’s just dandy. We all have to be responsible for own lives, and ultimately, that’s the only way it’s ever been anyway.

    RicochetRabbit brings up another possibly; if we let everybody become their own authority, that would mean the guys with the most guns win! Where do I sign up for this progressive reform? Really people: “there is nothing new under the sun” and Thoreau was an idiot…

    Essentially, freedom is responsibility. The two cannot be separated. Live responsibly and you can be as free as you like, and that means, harm no one. When we expect government to have a solution for everything, then cameras appear on every street corner, our phone lines and computers are tapped, and our freedoms wither away and are replaced by paid-for privileges.
