What needs to be done is transparency… with both grades and need plus help with the SAT (because not everyone, including European-Americans, has the resources…and study-time…that “privileged” students have, no matter their color.) OK, I’m ducking my head… ;)

I wish people would understand Affirmative Action better. Most who don’t like it don’t understand it.

What most people ignore is the affirmative action that was widely accepted for centuries.
Quotas on minorities, legacies, etc. That was just fine, and they would like to return to it.

Why should a minority bump a more qualified person from a college, job etc.?

Now that Latinos are the majority in many places, maybe the affirmative action tables will turn.

Lambert’s Law: " Those in power positions tend to stay in power positions." Changes will depend on who has the money.

Lalo is consistant, if nothing else.

I think the grass roots protest of the Vietnam War didn’t follow Lambert’s Law. Ask LBJ.

In spite of Eisenhower’s clear warning about the military-industrial complex, the oligarchy remains firmly ensconced in power, whether or not the president of one party or the other gets elected.

Why can’t a (ahem) “minority” be qualified for a college, job, etc.? “More qualified” is used as code for “white” in cases like this.

    Everyone gets the same tests.

And when equal results are determined, what other criteria is used? This also applies to gender. I’ve heard many stories of women who were exceptionally qualified for high-end jobs who were turned down in favor of some knucklehead guy who can’t tie his shoes. And winds up being her boss!

A classic example of misdirection: Don’t look here at the endless growth of government power; look over there at all those “oligarchs”.

A billionaire can’t make you do anything you don’t choose to; the government simply gives you no choice.

If that’s hard for you to understand, just compare “XXXX my XXXX and I’ll give you a million dollars” versus “XXXX my XXXX or I’ll blow your brains out”.
