    Freedom of speech includes choice of language. If the founders had put in an English only amendment, the Germans of Pennsylvania & French of Louisiana would never have signed on.

    And the Spanish of New Mexico and the rest of the southwest as well as near the Caribbean, the Dutch of New York, and even the indigenous peoples that already populated the land before the founders’ arrivals.

    In Texas we speak Texan. Though it has less Spanish in it now than it use to.

    Though I speak a foreign language aka Formal English, even listed it on my resumé half jokingly.
