Meanwhile, over on Fox, TV’s longest-running blonde-a-thon enters its 3rd decade.

Try the CBC where they advertised for an anchor who’s anything but caucasian…

Caucasian? So they would be from Turkey or the Caucausus mountain region. Never made sense using that designation from the 1950’s which is out of date now anyway. Nordic was used in the early 1800’s-1900’s and the Germans changed it to Aryan.

Again it’s all about talent and abilities, or do you want a quota system for profession sports? No? Thought so, you can’t cry discrimination unless you apply the rules you want equally to all people and jobs. Never see any lily white or black people on Telemundo, maybe we should complain about that?

Ah, but CNN has dark-skinned anchormen and women. I really think Lalo has gotten it mixed up with Fox News.

Aryan is inaccurate for Northern Europeans. It refers to Iranians. Why Hitler used it, don’t know, but the Shah was king of the Aryans.

I agree. And they lured away one of our favorite dark-skinned anchors here in LA, Michaela Pereira!

How about Northern European. Still inadequate but closer to reality. But then it is impossible to set up a good taxonomy for the many sub variations of humans.

It took awhile for the 19th century Germans to link the Nordics of Scandinavia to the Aryans that came from ancient Persia to India. Not saying it is accurate but that is the nomenclature they wanted to use over IndoEuropean.
