DIdn’t the gummint just release a study showing Head Start has no lasting effect?
As for the crack about the GOP, pollsters have taken to talking about “low-information” voters who vote Democratic.

True if they could they would have voted for a Green but they have no chance in a national election. It is the structure that keeps us with the evil. (The Republican would have been that much worse for everything including liberty.)

Care to back up that asinine statement about “most people that voted for Obama think that Oprah is a queen…”

“DIdn’t the gummint just release a study showing Head Start has no lasting effect?”
The study showed Head Start kids are ahead of their peers going in to First Grade. My question is, do the other kids catch up to the Head Start kids, or if a couple years of being in the larger group cancels out the advantage Head Start kids had when they finished pre-school?
The study was also far from a perfect comparison. About 20% of the kids in each group (Head Start vs. non-Head Start) dropped out of or entered the program, but were counted with whatever group they started with.

Thanks for the information. But I stand by Pschearer’s Law of Studies: For every study there is at least one equal and opposite study.

“An important question facing the nation is whether this wide variety of programs and immense outlay of federal and state funds is helping to prepare children for school. When Head Start was created in 1965, it was initially guided by the hope that providing a nurturing environment, adequate nutrition, help for families, and opportunities for socialization for low-income children would develop the cognitive, social, and emotional foundations that would make learning easy once they entered school. While some evidence has indicated that children attending Head Start programs perform better on cognitive measures after a year in preschool, these benefits are short-lived and fade quickly. Indeed, after over three decades of noble service by Head Start programs, low-income children continue to perform significantly below their more advantaged peers in reading and mathematics once they enter school. Head Start was a Lyndon Johnson program that was re-authorized in 1998.
No Child Left Behind was added in about 2004, and has more to do with standardized tests than food and emotional needs.

when you substitute “indoctrination” for “education”, this becomes absolutely true.
Public Education is the second greatest evil this country has ever devised, right behind the cultivation of fear and loathing for firearms, especially among those who would gain the most benefit from them.

Head Start is another failure Alcaraz supports. Yesterday it was the Mass Murderer, Che Guivera.

Very few things are absolute. Too much input from Religious fanatics and corporations into public schools.

Universal Indoctrination Centers to dumb down 2-yr-olds, increase gov’t dependency, decrease attachments to family, deify Dear Leader, and raise up a generation of sheep. Hmmm…worked in 1936.
