Irresponsibly left lying around? Attainable through illegal means?

This is likely to be one of the unheralded but very real side effects of Obamacare. It really pushes preventive medicine and puts mental health on the same footing as physical. You can’t be denied coverage or treatment for pre-existing conditions in either realm. To those who keep asking “Can’t we do something about these awful shootings?”, we ARE.

Actually it is easier to get help than to get a gun. If you show up at at MH clinic and tell them you want to hurt others or yourself you get a nice bed and some meds right away! Which gives you something to do while you wait for the background checks to clears for the gun you want.

It will always be easy to get a gun.
It will always be difficult to get adaquate mental health care.

Most relevant comment in the comics over this issue, now to get legislators smart enough to read them.

That isn’t the point. Treatment yes and not all of it needs medications. Sometimes the medications can lead to the psychotic break in the first place.

Lapierre had a perfectly workable solution to the problem of gun violence in schools. Just put in enough armed guards to handle the situation. I estimate the average school would require about 10 armed guards to cover all of the doors.
Where would we get the money to pay them? No problem, just tax each sale of weapons or ammunition enough to cover their salaries. That wouldn’t just cut down considerably on the sale of guns, it would be a big help in finding work for returning vets.
If you’re wondering if I’m serious or this is satire— frankly so am I.

Who will run the massive bureauacry of keeping armed guards at all schools?

Maybe if more money went into law enforcement. Something the NRA has been against, that could help.

the people who need help with their mental health are some of the least likely to have help to deal with their problem, it’s going to take I don’t know what to actually get them some help.
I thought that Gabby Giffords shooting would be enough to get some serious funding but That wasn’t even enough!

You’ve got it backwards. Guns are NOT easy to get, and it’s the psycho drugs that are making people crazy to begin with!
