   She really isn’t a princess anymore, Alderaan is gone. She was also a Senator, also gone. She became a rebel. By now a commander in the continuing battle to win system after system against the remaining Imperial Fleet.

   Y’know, I always thot George Lucas missed the opportunity of a millennium when he could have had Leia (who, after all, shares all of Luke’s DNA) show up at the end of Ep. 6 to be the one to save the day with her newly discovered ability to use the Force.

   Is the force strong with Leia? All we ever saw hinting that was her picking up a telepathic message from Luke at the end of Ep. 5.

   Yes but you have to go back and listen to what others were saying. Some of it was bleed over from Leia’s tapping the force without knowing it. But she was protected from her father’s sensing of her power for some time but eventually he found out.

   He found out from Luke that there was a sister, but if I remember correctly, her identity was not revealed to daddy dearest.

    Didn’t she say she reigned over the outer territories as well? So even though Alderaan no longer exists,she is still recognized as a Royal and ruler of the Realm.
