That’s what I thought a couple nights ago, but I didn’t feel it at all. I live about 100 miles from the epicenter, too. It was a 5.3.

Yeah, even 5.0 isn’t all that big a deal unless you’re right on it.
We did have a 3.9 here in April that we could actually feel, but the epicenter was about a mile from our offices, so that’s not surprising. It felt like a big thump, none of the usual rocking and rolling… One of my son’s friends lives about 100 feet from where USGS pinpointed it and they had some cups fall off the shelf.

In Texas we have plenty of subsurface faults too. But because they slide over each other without colliding we get almost no quakes of note.
