We have the worlds most expensive military.
We also have the worlds most expensive health care system and it delivers less than any other health care system in the industrial world, mosty because a certain political party is afraid of the concept of socialism.

So many people, legal or otherwise, getting a free ride doesn’t help matters much either.

EVERYONE should be afraid of the concept of socialism! The last two centuries have shown that private ownership under freedom generates once-unimaginable prosperity, while socialism only brings stagnation at best, more usually wide-spread poverty, and often starvation and mass murder on a once-unimaginable scale.

Yet people continue to prattle about “the concept of socialism”. Beware of them! They see themselves as the ruler and you as the ruled. You SHOULD be afraid of another Hitler, Stalin, Mao, or Pol Pot. They are the true faces of socialism.

Sorry, pschearer, but those folks weren’t Socialist, they were Communist … a Totally (and Totalitarian) different concept.
Socialism reads ‘from each according to their ability; to each according to their need.
Communism reads ’from each of the ruled according to what can be forced out of them; to each of the rulers, all that he or she can grab. Hmmmm …. sounds a little like Bain Capital, doesn’t it?

The German economy is a fantastic partnership of private and public. Their most conservative political party is the Christian Socialist Union – and it is NOT what you ignorantly describe. They have the oldest continuous health care system which, while not providing as universal and efficient care as other European countries, has for more than 130 years provided comprehensive coverage for virtually all the people – and current coverage which is far and away better than anything in the US.

Even when Hitler took over he left it mostly intact. So during those nightmare years it remained.

A partnership of Socialism and Capitalism works the best. We see it in the most successful economies including ours. However if either one goes it alone it isn’t good at all. They give balance. That and Capitalism is such a volatile force it needs control. Remove that control and like fire and electricity they start a firestorm.

Not even the concept of Socialism, but just the word itself. I have yet to see any evidence that they get the concept.

Like Pschearer just seeing the word and they immediately jump into extremist mode.

Hitler, stalin, mao and pol pot are gone due to popular demand.
    .
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Canada, etc, keep their cheap efficient health care due to popular demand.

Unlike in the “Land of the Free” where the public be damned on health care. Still got the corporate model with some slight tweaking.

$1.65 per American multiplied by 350 million.
PBS is a dinosaur, well past it’s useful life.
It is now just another parasite sucking at the government tit.
