   If the bureaucrats in charge are going to try to save money while expanding coverage, they are going to have to cut services as is already happening with Medicare. That inevitably means someone somewhere will be deciding who gets what care when. “Death panel” is a bad name, but the ultimate effect will be the same for at least some people. But if you have actually looked at the bill (you only need to look at three or four random pages to get the idea), those thousand pages can contain ANYTHING, and all decided in the future by nameless unelected bureaucrats.

   People deserve good medical treatment without fear of a death panel, incomplete care, and medical expenses so high that to become ill also means to become bankrupt.

   Trebor39: Depends on what you think “deserve” means. If it means that someone’s need for something morally obliges someone else to provide it for them, then NO, they don’t deserve it.

   We should be provided medical care by our government. No exclusions. Just like public education.
