    Indeed they are. But I joined the “Here kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty” to them being fed. Good imprinting. They sure came when called.

    @Suzanne

    I have a 12-year-old former feral that comes racing to me when I yell “CHADWICK!” like Charles Laughton did in the Alfred Hitchcock movie, “Jamaica Inn.”
    I found him living in the parking lot of the apartment complex where I used to live. One neighbor said his name was Shadow, and another said his name was Buddy. Those were my mom’s two dogs names at the time, so I “humanized” Shadow to Chad. He knows the name and seems to like it!
    He used to be black with a white locket spot under his neck. In his old age, he’s turned a dark chocolate brown!

    You can cease and desist with the “here kitty here kitty.” Cats take a message and get back to you later. They’re sure not going to come while they’re taking a nap.

    Our cat Tinkerbell knows her name and will usually come when she’s called. Because she knows that she’s going to get petted or played with if she does.

    They’ll let you know when they’re hungry when you wake up and they’re standing on your chest and staring into your eyes.
