    The republicans tried to stop it.

    The republicans are more than happy to toss the middle class over the cliff. Everything they’ve done over the past 20 years leads to it.

    Republicans only protect the rich, the Christianists and (to a lesser extent) their political future. That’s pretty much all that’s left of ’em.

    32 years, starting with Reagan, but who is counting.

    It’s part of the process to devalue the money.

    Gee, all this could have been averted if only Obama had agreed to what Republicans have proposed. Here’s a quick summary of the Republican proposal:

    That’s an accurate summary, but we’ve had to listen to lots of BS to truly understand it.

    @Mr. King

    Raisint taxes on the top 2% (Obama originally said top 1%) would not be enough to run the government for ten days.

    Obama sure uses lofty words to obscure inconvenient facts.
    For example “quantitative easing.” Sounds calming, soothing, like something good is going to happen. But when he says that, he’s just going to print more money.
    Printing money devalues the dollar.
    It takes “wealth” from people without having to openly tax them.
    So while we’re all busy talking about “taxing the rich” (which will have a miniscule effect on anything) attention is diverted from the fact that the poor and the middle class are seeing the value of their money decline at the same rate as everyone else.

    We should all be counting. And voting out any republicans in office.

    And while we read these comments, the government has spent more than any of us will earn in a lifetime.

    To paraphrase the 1992 Clinton campaign, “It’s SPENDING, Stupid!”

    Are you giving Carter a free pass?
    Reagan inherited a HUGE mess from Carter.

    …to the surprise of no one it’s the middle class that gonna get it. At least about half of us voted for it.
