Send in a few Republicans and Tea Partiers. Let’s see how they fare. Oh, that’s right. They only care about the debt when a Democrat’s in office.

Return the top rate to 90% and the debt is done. No other solution is possible.

Lower all tax rates or flat tax not to exceed 15%, eliminate all loopholes, deductions, credits, shelters, on all tax payers both corporate and personal, Then remove the social security tax cap, Also put in place progressive tariffs to level the international trade imbalance. And above all CUT SPENDING.

    This ‘toon is all wrong.

BHO doesn’t want to “slay” the deficit. He wants to increase it He likes $5 gas. 9% unemployment is the “new norm”. He wants the dollar de-valued, He wants inflation.

This is what he “hoped” his “changes” would accomplish. He has gotten exactly what he set out to do. Diminish and de-value America..

There simply isn’t any other reasonable explanation. He’s either accomplishing his goals or failing miserably, either way this guy has to be the most destructive leader to ever hold office in this country.

Lefts response: Bush lied! Cheney/shrub were evil! Reagan was senile! Bush is stupid! Oil sucks! Bush is stupid!

I’m curious, did anyone ever actually pay 90%? You can go ahead and put this tax rate out there, but then the whole system is built to make sure you don’t pay that rate with all these loopholes.

I mean seriously, does anyone other than the mentally ill actually think that imposing 90% income tax rate does anything else than create a need to re-define your income so that it isn’t “income” and push for a black market?

You’re basically trying to outlaw income and we all know how well that worked on alcohol and weed.

“BHO doesn’t want to “slay” the deficit. He wants to increase it ”

And as I already said, the Republican leadership doesn’t actually care about it either. They just want to make Obama look bad. If the republicans do retake the presidency, it will be the last you hear about the skyrocketing debt and deficits until another Democrat takes office. And all the little Republican minions will be perfectly happy to forget about all the complaining they did about it.

Jase is right per history. Eventually, it will matter to everyone. That time is probably right now.

The Republican plan calls for $6 trillion MORE in debt for the first ten years, mostly for more tax cuts. These are the same people who say it’s immoral to raise the debt ceiling.

If tax cuts worked, we’d be in good shape now, but despite how much they help tax payers, it turns out that starving the government ruins the economy. Obama’s plan does better on the budget deficit, so the cartoon misses the point there. Interestingly, the only serious plan that DOES cut the budget deficit – eliminates it in fewer than ten years – is the one put forth by the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Of course, no one’s been paying it any attention. Somehow it’s not considered serious because it raises revenue and cuts spending.

Look, Republicans and Democrats need to start by cutting spending. It is ridiculous to believe that we can spend our way out of a recession without imposing some kind of limits. It is also ridiculous to believe that taxing the rich will bring in any more than $650B. With a deficit of more that $14T what does that get us. And does anyone really believe that if you raise taxes on the “Evil millionaires and billionaires” that they won’t just a) hide their money offshore or b) pass the cost on to the consumers.

Think beyond the sound bites and do some real research on both points of view. Otherwise you become one dimensional and predictable.

JASE99 Look up Jude Wanniski and the Two Santa Clause Theory. This is where the neocon strategy comes from. This is why no Republican gave War Bush a hard time when it came to spending.

No Republican gave Bush a hard time because it is absolutely unthinkable to criticize a sitting President while troops are in harms way. It’s treasonous and harms demoralizes the troops. Of course it doesn’t count if the President is a Democrat. You can say anything you want about a Democratic President (true or not) without any worry about the troops or treason.
