Ken Catalino is a conservative cartoonist who is happiest puncturing balloons filled with the lightweight gas of liberal idealism. This doesn’t prevent him from criticizing conservatives on occasion, if reason and rationality are violated

Oh boy, what a simplistic approach to take.
Catalino is putting words into McCrystal’s mouth. I may disagree with McCrystal on a few points but I think even McCrystal would be aghast at his misrepresentation here.
This. ‘toon. is.just .wrong.
You cannot and should not compare this to D-day nor Iraq. How more stupid can one be, to think a one-fits-all approach to everything works? What has the past 8 years of failure shown?
That “successful” surge in Iraq was a combination of a few other factors of which additional troop numbers was a small part. It also had how they were deployed, what were the Sunnis doing etc etc etc
”C’mon” …? The kid in this ‘toon is Catalino.

D-Day? D-Day? Geez, they say the generals lose because they are always fighting the last war instead of the current one, but this pinhead thinks … um … what does he think? That Afghanistan is in the hands of a conquering nation and that when we run those foreigners out, we’ll be greeted with flowers and candy?
I’ve heard that one, Ken. Arlington Cemetery has a large number of young people who heard that one.
