“Religious fanatics” seems like an incredibly vague term to use. I mean, I get what he’s saying here, but it’s so bland that I don’t really care.

    I don’t get this ‘toon.
There is no direct threat to the USA from the Taliban. However, these soldiers are apparently standing on Afghan soil. Who is being a threat to whom?

Afghanistan has a population of approx. 28 million. The USA has slightly more than 300 million. The UK has approx. 61 million.
How many fundamentalist or fanatics in each? Are fundamentalists and fanatics the one and same? And why are they fanatical? What is the tipping point on a scale for a religious person to be called fanatical?

One man’s faith is someone else’s fanatic.

Yes toaster, we have them here in the U.S. too. They are a bigger threat, only just to the national sanity. Just ask our own on line Scottie.

omQ R, I like your Picasso . There is a Don Quixote illustrated by Gustave Dore, that I know you would like. Look it up on www.abe.com.

Thanks Ahab, you sent me off on a happy errand looking him up. I didn’t realise I actually knew some of Gustav Dore’s works. He apparently illustrated a French edition of Don Quixote (222 illustrations!) and I found a few were familiar.
Picasso’s version is the one I adopted after passing through Salamanca a few years back.

Does the “Cultristian” group “Westboro Baptist ( not a true member of the true Baptist church) Church” ring a bell ( there the ones who picket the funerals of US Servicemen & women by carry “God hates you & “God loves IEDs” signs they’re led by “Reverend” Fred Phelps & the majority of the “CONgregation” as his immediate family & “brainwashed” in-laws.)

How about I just point out it should say “Muslim Islamic Fanatics” The ones who believe this is a country full of infidels and they need to start a new World War in order to bring back their
    savor.

om Q R “And why are they fanatical? What is the tipping point on a scale for a religious person to be called fanatical?
One man’s faith is someone else’s fanatic.”
Good question, and that is part of the problem. The “Westboro Baptist are fanatical and almost all Christens and most Baptist will tell you they do not agree and are offended by them using the “Christan” That is what makes them “fanatical” and should be monitored.

For those who monitor this site I would like to point out that “tea bagging” is a sexual act, it has no place in this comic and crosses the bounds of good taste in this forum.

With over 100 “Baptist” denominations in the U.S., and over 38,000 “Christian” denominations, ALL saying they have the only answer, and will kill anyone who disagrees with them (either personally, or through a “cleansing” war) fanatic loses all relevance. ANY “faith” that says killing is okay in the name of the faith is false.

dtroutma, that is why the followers of radical Islamic Muslims are so dangerous. The ones that do follow the Koran have mandates that allow them to treat non Muslims as they see fit.
Christians on the other hand when they act this way they are acting counter to what Jesus preached. And I am sorry “ALL saying they have the only answer” is very mis leading. They may say Jesus is the only way to salvation but I really do not see Christians as a whole demonizing other flavors of there faith. That is unless they are “fanatics” that will in turn hurt their image of being a Christan

dtroutma is corrct (I was going to say “right” but the Religious Right has so destroyed that word that you have to be careful how you use it) the people who call themselves “Christians” have allowed the radicals to take over their religion and turn it into a polical force.

After 9/11 people were asking why did the Muslims let the extremest take over, why didn’t the Moderates speak up?

Why don’t Moderate Christians speak up? Why do they let those who preach hate and anger take over a religion that was founded on love and acceptance?
