As a former mechanic, they DO make lots of “uncomfortable” noises I had to get used to, but it appears Air France was NOT heeding maintenance bulletins. The one off Somalia had apparently NOT passed some tests, but was left in service, without maintenance. What happens if you don’t put air in your car tires? Doesn’t mean the car is bad.

I agree but perception often trumps truth.

^ i had a boss once who insisted perception equaled truth … guess you can guess what kind of boss he was huh? ….

Note: he was a hospital administrator … loved to stir things up for the sake of seeing how his management team reacted to things all stirred up.

Just gotta’ love an assessment by an individual that hasn’t the first clue as to what’s going on. Or is avitation mech Mr Catello’s day job?

Perhaps his expertise is in judging uninformed public reaction. I’m not sure whether the Yemen air company has saftey problems or not but I’m pretty sure the protesting crowd at the Paris airport doesn’t either.

Perception, like first impressions, can be incorrect

Didn’t say it was correct but perception along with first impressions has a strong impact on actions.
