It might help if he had said alloys in the first panel and allows…..

Maybe he should set the boy up with a workstation in the middle of a baseball field.

The crazy thing is, as I’m working on these strips, I’m literally staring at each one for two hours and STILL one gets by me. AARRGHHH!

Sure glad that was a typo. Thought this was something new I hadn’t heard about – I’m always behind the times.
Sounds like a great summer project. And, he can do both.

Here’s a proofreaders’ trick for you: read the text backward, word by word. dear my pithy very cretaceous late …

The problem is when you read normally you grasp the concept of a whole sentence in one fell swoop, too fast to notice details like spelling. Reading backwards is one way to slow yourself down so you can look at each word individually.

Doesn’t work if you’ve actually worked as a copy editor for some time, I’m afraid. I can read forwards, backwards, upside down, mirror image, all almost as fast as ordinary text. And I still miss one or two the first time ’round.
