    “Language of Love”, Dan Fogelberg….
    =
Actually, she’s kinda late… our language has become more of an informal one, compared to earlier times….

But you can never get through the day trying to micromanage somebody’s every detail… it’s unproductive, and unfruitful…

You could also point out that the English language is constantly evolving, and grammar that’s valid today maybe be considered obsolete tomorrow. That’s OK for nearly-dead old people, but us younguns have to adapt.

…And in this enclosure we have an example of the rare and elusive ‘Ironic Oxymoron’.

Currently, this is believed to be the only example of this rare breed in captivity.

    OK folks…
    Let’s keep it moving…

    And we’re walking…

You are quite correct (why am I suddenly very conscious of my grammar?). I’ve two copies of the English grammar bible, “Fowler’s English Usage”, one entitled “The King’s English”, more than 130 years old and the other more recent. I thoroughly enjoy reading and comparing the two copies, and discovering the changes in our language, during the last century.

She’s his mother. Didn’t she teach all this to him growing up?

She should be glad that Joe’s not using Ebonics, which is unfortunately widespread in the African-American community.
“I’m going over to they house” instead of “their house” and dropping of ‘s for possessives (“Marcy car” instead of "Marcy’s car") are two big things that I have noticed.

Many conservatives feel that any other version of the Bible than the 402-year-old King James Version is blasphemy.
Even Quakers gave up “thee” and “thou” in the late 1800s, about a century after everyone else converted to the once more-formal “you” as an all-inclusive word.

Sure, English is a dynamic language. However, some people are just too lazy to speak properly and want to use an excuse, like saying the language is “adapting”.
