Well I got lucky and am the first, so I will go off on a personal rant.

First this was a terrible thing.

But the media made it worse – while acting like they really cared, when all they cared about was ratings, they went on and on.

Please, please stop this 24/7 coveraged of everything. Save it for those things like earthquakes, hurricanes, fires, and major disasters where we need vital information on what to do or what is happening.

Don’t make matters worse with wrong information, guesses, speculation, and talking heads that have no real information but blatter on. Give us the headlines, and go on to other stories, and then come back to this one to give updates.

Ken, you got in ahead of me with the same rant. I turned off the TV “news” tonight because I couldn’t stand the salivating media on this “story”, and that was all there was (except for the Norts Spews”). There is something indecent about the obsession with stories such as this one in the media which trivialize the very significant human tragedies that have occurred.

Sadly, the news is nothing but carrion feeders.

Never in the entire history of the United States military has an active-duty commanding officer deliberately mass-slaughtered his fellow troops.

You gd Leftists with your “political correctness” and bee ess about “racial profiling” need to go wash your hands now, they’re covered in fresh blood.

As if all the millions of human beings murdered daily inside their mom’s bodies aren’t enough for you…

The Lord rebuke every one of you!

Ken, fennec, would you prefer the newscasts limit themselves to ‘Oh, something happened at some Army base in Texas. Big deal.’?

scott, as usual, you lie read about Civil War General Burnside), and your reasoning is flawed.

The old rule for a news story was WHAT, WHEN, WHY, AND HOW.

The current media tells us what happened, when it happened, how it happened, and then goes off in all direction on the Why it happened.

What we want and need is news, what we get is the same story over and over and hours of speculaton.

Or as Faux News reported this morning: “A Muslim officer with a Muslim name and a Muslim upbringing from his Muslim family shouted Muslim slogans as he shot many non-Muslim American soldiers with a Muslim gun filled with Muslim bullets. But his religion had nothing to do with it.”

Great article, oldle. But you will NOT get the current crop of Girl Government bureacrats infecting our military to ever listen…

Some GOP politician(s) will have to make it a campaign issue (we all know the Demoncrats would never side against Islamo-fascists).

oldie, scott, from the AP, article quoted directly:
The Army chief of staff says it’s important for the country not to get caught up in speculation about the Muslim faith of the alleged Fort Hood gunman.
Gen. George Casey says he’s instructed his commanders to be on the lookout for that reaction to the killings at the Texas post.
He says focusing on the Islamic roots of the suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, could “heighten the backlash” against all Muslims in the military.
Casey says diversity in the military “gives us strength.”

Ha! Well, I like to think I’m immune to stupidity but you never know.

I do, however, believe that it is the responsibility of intellectually honest people to give a fair hearing to what the “other side” is saying. I do, and then see if I can dispute it with reason and evidence. And if I can’t, then I must accept it.

  17. pbarnrob

    pbarnrob said, 11 days ago

Hard to dispute until there *is* some evidence. I’ll wait for judgements until we know a lot more from the investigation.

This guy, as a shrink, has been hearing horror stories from his patients for quite a while, and doubtless getting a bellyfull of ‘smoked that Haji’ stories from the indoctrinated (after all, that’s how you get these kids to go to exotic foreign lands, meet interesting people, and kill them) in between. Probably already been getting some of that same hooie that was featured after OK City. “Muslims are the Enemy; you are Muslim, therefore…”

Joseph Goebells lives on, wrapped in Old Glory. “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Here we go again with the scare tactics. MUSLIM! RUN!! I was watching O’Riled up at the gym talking about MUSLIM, MUSLIM, MUSLIM!!!

But we’re a nation of religious tolerance. Don’t confuse him with the facts.

Yeah, Leftists were to blame here. As if this man, and all the others listed in OLG’s article, enlisted during the time of a left-wing president and Congress. As if the army was the bastion, nay, beating heart of bleeding heart liberalism in the US. As if a war initiated by right-wingers for interests having little to nothing to do with the US’ national security had nothing to do with it.

A good rule of thumb is; when reporters begin interviewing each other, turn it off. Neither has any more information.
